I am thankful for so many things that God is doing among us. We have so many things coming back, some new things starting, and we have a God that is making it all possible!
For the first time in over a year and a half, I get to ask the Body of Christ this question: what do you want to do? For such a long time, churches all over the world had to stop doing just about everything they were doing. Now, we are safely getting back to action! And as we do that, we get to think about what we want to do, where we want to go, and who we want to be. This is an opportunity to start new things and improve the things that we've done in the past. And that is exactly what we are going to do!
It warmed my pastor heart when the teenagers themselves came up to me and asked about starting Youth Group. Youth Group is coming back soon! Actually, I would like to start 2 youth groups, one for high school, and one for late elementary/middle school. Every Sunday I visit every Sunday School room. In the older rooms, I have asked them this question: what do you want to do. We're talking about possibly doing a corn maze and scavenger hunt in October, and we are thinking of things to do at Christmas time. We're also looking forward to VBS next summer, and we will need a lot of volunteers for that!
I've asked what you want to do, and you have responded. Several of you have come up to me with new Bible Study ideas for Sunday morning and during the week. We want to start planning how to get our missions and outreach back up and running. One of the ways this questions has been answered is by saying that we want to offer a better online worship experience. The Church Council has officially answered that by approving the hiring of a technology specialist to run and improve our virtual worship.
So, what do YOU want to do? My goal as a pastor is always to find things for us to do. I like to be an active church. A busy church is a growing church, and I am so thankful that churches can finally start getting busier again. So, what is it that you want to do, and how can the church help you do it? My door is always open for new ideas, for passion and for discipleship!
