You are Made in the Image of God

Today's devotion comes from Lisa Whitaker.  Lisa is a wonderful part of our church, and she is also a great blessing to people all over the world as she travels to teach people about Jesus Christ.  In this video devotion, Lisa is in Krakow, Poland.  Below I will give you the transcript of what she says, and if you are able to, I encourage you to go to our YouTube to see the video by clicking here: https://youtu.be/7WBZuJGuKl0

Hi everyone, I'm Lisa Whitaker, and many of you would know me as one of the missionaries from our church.  Right now I am in Krakow, Poland.  As you can see, this is one of the churches behind me in the main square of Krakow.  I was here for a week and we had our International Training School Center staff come and gather together here in Krakow to worship, pray, plan for the future and look at how to invest in people's lives in the coming years ahead.  One of the things we did on our day off is we visited Oskar Schindler's factory, which many of you may know from the movie "Schindler's List".  And as we entered the factory, there was a very extensive explanation of what happened here prior to the war and as the war was stirring up and how Germany came in and took over.

One of the things that really struck me was that when they were talking about Oskar Schindler, they taught us that he came here as a German business man, and his goal was really to take advantage of  the businesses that were going to be afforded to him when the Jews were taken away.  And one of the people that he ended up saving in the end wrote about Oskar Schindler and said that he came here with the idea of business, but his moral transformation happened not over night, but day by day as he interacted with the Jews in this factory and he saw that they were not just cheap laborers but that they were actual human beings.

It came to a point where other Jews wanted to work in his factory because he was feeding them, he was not beating them and he was treating them much better than the other businessmen who hired Jews in the region.  But what struck me was the fact that this person said his moral transformation was not immediate.  It was day by day.  And there was this realization that the people he was interacting with were human beings.  And as I have been thinking about that, I have been thinking about the world's situation and really praying prayers that we would have more of that take place; that people would interact with those who they don't agree with or don't understand and that their transformation would be that they would see these people as human beings.  Because we all know that we are made in the image of God.

Every nation's and every language's Bible says "you are made in the image of God" whether that is written in English, or in Polish or Hebrew, whatever it is, you are made in the image of God.  So, let's keep that in mind as we move forward and let's pray for a revelation within the church in America and worldwide that we are all made in the image of God.
