Text: Romans 8:37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (NRSV)
What is it that has you down? Are there things in your life that you wish were different? Are there things in your life that need to be transformed? Are there things in your life that are holding you back from being all that God wants you to be?
That last question might have caught you off guard. You see, when we first start thinking about things we whish were different in our lives, we do so from a selfish perspective. We often start thinking about changes we would want others to make so that our lives might be a little more comfortable—a little more pleasant—a little more bearable. But God does not make us conquerors of other’s lives, God makes us conquerors of our lives.
When changes need to be made, they need to be made in us. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit in the love of God that these changes can and will happen. God has made us more than conquerors in all these things. God has made us conquerors over sin through the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ. Our life can be so much better than it is now if we allow the love of God to transform our lives into those who love others.
Knowing that God has made you a conqueror of your own life, what step will you take to move closer to the vision of the life God has called you to live? What can you do differently right now that will move you closer to becoming more like Jesus? What changes have you not even attempted because you thought you were a victim and not a conqueror?
Pray with me:
God, you have made me a conqueror over my own life through the gift of your Son and the power of the Holy Spirit. Encourage me to take the risks I need to take so that my life might better reflect your love to the world. AMEN.
