Hello, friends! Today's devotion comes from Linda Babcock. Linda is a faithful member of our church who uses the gifts God has given her to enhance the ministries of our church. She is a dedicated church Treasurer and member of the Faithful Fingers ministry. We give thanks to God for Linda, her gifts, and her willingness to give us a devotion this week.

I John 4:8 – “God is Love.”
From a very early age, I was surrounded by a community of people who taught me these basic principles of life:
- God Is Love
- Jesus Loves Me
- Love One Another
This was a dedicated, loving group of Sunday School teachers who cared about their students enough to teach us these truths with Bible stories, games, crafts and songs. These people knew me, taught me to pray, read my Bible and make a joyful noise. This is where I made lifelong friends, learned memory verses, overcame my fear of “saying a piece” in Big Church, helped pick and wrap lilies of the valley for the women in my church on Mother’s Day, ate countless wonderful potluck dishes at Sunday School picnics, learned a little bit of sign language so my friends and I could “talk” silently during worship without getting into trouble (sorry, Rev) and faithfully put pennies in the offering plate every week to give back to God (yes, it was pennies back then!)
As a young adult, I moved to Absecon and had children of my own. The thing that began to connect me with this church was Sunday School because I wanted my children to have the same foundation that I had while growing up. Mission accomplished – my kids made friends, had lots of “extra” parents who knew them, loved them and guided them. In the process, God also blessed me with friends and mentors who continue to remind me daily of what is really important:
- God Is Love
- Jesus Loves Me
- Love One Another
